FAQs
My brushing result is not right. What am I doing wrong?
The diameter and length of the bristles are the magic words when it comes to the right brushing result. Almost all problems can be easily remedied: whether the brushing effect is too weak, too strong or the brush transfers the burr. In our brushing know-how you will find a solution for all problems.
Which Lessmann hand brushes and brooms are there?
In addition to the standard hand brushes, professional hand brushes and special hand brushes, we also offer spark plug brushes and fine brushes.
Hand brushes and brooms as well as special models round off our range.
Our standard range doesn't offer what you're looking for?
If we reach our limits with our standard range and you need brushes with individual dimensions, brush filling materials or a combination thereof for your application, you have come to the right place. Get in touch!
What does Lessmann mean by sustainability?
We understand ecological responsibility to mean operational environmental protection and a contribution to climate protection. The aim was therefore to have the company certified according to ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management) in order to clearly define and pursue reduction targets for emissions and raw material consumption, among other things. Lessmann has been certified according to this standard since May 2022 and thus records consumption in order to make future reduction targets measurable. We have also recently become part of the “Environment + Climate Pact Bavaria”. By participating, we are committed to taking environmental protection measures that go far beyond the legal requirements. We have been using several photovoltaic systems to generate electricity on all roof areas of our company since 2003. Through constant expansion, we now achieve a total output of 588 kWp. With an annual consumption of around 1,200 kWh, we generate almost 50% of our electricity ourselves. We are even better when it comes to heating: it is fueled 100% by leftovers from the production of our wooden handles.

Can I study dual with Lessmann?
We offer dual study places.
Whether technically as a mechanical engineering student or commercially as a business administration student – Lessmann provides practical insight during your studies at the DHBW Heidenheim.
Or a mixture of both: We also offer study places in the fields of industrial engineering or business informatics.
Which brushes with shank are there?
We offer a variety of shank brushes:
These differ based on their shape (round, surface or end brush) and the brush filling material (crimped wire, knotted wire, abrasive).
Wheel brushes with shank: crimped wire, knotted wire, abrasive
Cup brushes with shank
End brushes: crimped wire, knotted wire, abrasive
What are encapsulated brushes?
In the encapsulated brushes, the steel wire trim is embedded in a tough plastic mass. This means that the trim widths always remain the same during processing and premature breakage of individual wires is avoided. Lessmann’s plastic-bonded brushes are available in three different shore hardnesses: black – hard, red – standard and white – soft. The more aggressive the application, the harder the plastic material should be. Another advantage of the harder plastic material is the dimensional stability.
What are carbon fiber brushes?
Carbon fiber brushes are special brushes made of carbon fiber. These brushes are mainly used because of their excellent electrical conductivity, high strength and low wear. Carbon fiber brushes are used in various technical and industrial areas, especially in electronics and electrical engineering.
Straight, crimped or knotted? What's the difference?
Metal wires can be made into brushes in a straight, crimped or knotted form. A wire knot is always made from straight wires and is harder than a single wire with the same wire diameter. Crimped wires support each other and thus increase stability when brushing.
Straight wires in end products are used, for example, in hand brushes or interior brushes. For wheel brushes, cup and bevel brushes and shaft brushes, crimped or knotted wire variants are usually used.
What safety regulations are there when working with brushes?
When using power-driven brushes, safety instructions must be observed (according to DIN EN ISO 1083). Pay attention to the appropriate measures when working with technical brushes. Here we offer an information sheet with safety instructions.
