With annual high investments in machinery, the company is strengthening its competitive edge by relying on a combination of skilled workers and state-of-the-art production technology.
One focus of these investments is on expanding existing production processes through the addition of automated systems. On the other hand, older machines are regularly phased out and replaced with modern equipment. The goal is to continuously make production more efficient and sustainable while ensuring the highest quality standards.
A significant milestone was recently reached with the commissioning of a new, state-of-the-art, completely redesigned production line. In close collaboration with a specialized machine manufacturer, a fully automatic machine for producing a specific type of brush was developed and built. In addition to the machine’s higher performance and reliability, reducing energy consumption was also a key objective. Whereas larger hydraulic units were previously used in these machines, the new system now features only servo-controlled drive spindles.
In doing so, Lessmann’s developers provided key solutions to meet all requirements. One key component of the machine was even designed and built by the company’s in-house machine and tool shop in Oettingen and only recently integrated into this machine. This allows Lessmann to retain critical expertise in-house.
“This machine is unique in our industry. We have invested a great deal of time and expertise into developing this entirely new machine concept and are pleased to finally have the result in-house. This machine guarantees brush quality at the very highest level and is simultaneously significantly more efficient in production than previous machines. Furthermore, expanding our machine park in this area was urgently needed, as our existing machines were already operating at full capacity,” says Managing Director Jürgen Lessmann.
